

Robert "Frank" Freeman, 84, of Springfield, died at 5:25 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Frank was born March 25, 1931 in Cantrall, the son of Willard and Anna Mae McQuinn Freeman. He married Virginia Ann Williams on July 3, 1954 in Greenville. Frank was a graduate of Athens High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a laborer in the Union and belonged to the Laborer's Local #477. Frank enjoyed OTB Horseracing, building model ships, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Charles, Calvin, Jasper, Thomas and Frederick Freeman; and four sisters, Edith Markey, Edna Emmons, Celestia Richino, and Mildred. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Freeman of Springfield; two daughters, Betty K. "Kathy" (husband, Brad) Wilkins of Virden and Linda M. "Mickey" (husband, Nile) Schumm of Washington; five grandchildren, Andrea (husband, Corey) Bennett, Sean (wife, Kira) Schumm, Casey (wife, Jennifer) Schumm, Frank (wife, Nici) Pokora and Rhiannon (husband, Terry) Turley; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Ann (husband, Henry) Lanterman of Indio, CA. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Committal Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Department of Defense and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
