I worked for Bob in New York from 1991 to 1999. He was a class act and always a gentlemen. He will be sorely missed.

My condolences to Bob's wife, children & family. Bob hired me at American Re in 1983. I worked for them for over 20 years, and am still working for them as a consultant. Bob was the epitome of a top administator and manager. Through the years he maintained an excellent reputation, and I will always remember him as a personable, knowledgeable and upstanding individual. He will be missed!

From our first meeting in 1990 it was clear Bob was a man with strong values and a sense of purpose.My admiration and respect for him remains today as it was then.My sincerest condolences to Bob's family and friends. He will be remembered.

I worked for Bob from 1988 through 1999 and truly consider him a mentor in the business of insurance claims. He and Linda were friends to me, my wife Gerry and our two sons. My son Matt and I have fond memories of when Bob took us for a flight in his plane from Morristown, NJ. Matt was a young boy then and now is a licensed pilot and loves to fly whenever he gets the chance. Thanks, Bob.

My sympathy is with all the Hall family. From the guestbook entries I glean that Robert was a fine, upstanding man in his dealings with family, friends and the business community. Bob gave me the opportunity to work for him at American Re in 1977. I think he hired me because we both liked John Deere tractors, not what I knew about claims, but he never admitted to that. Bob was a wonderful man, both in busiess and as a friend. We will miss him.

I first met Bob in 1973 when he transferred from Chicago to East Orange, NJ to become Assistant Claims Manager at Liberty Mutual. After leaving to join American Re, Bob offered me a job there in 1975, which I gladly accepted for the opportunity to work again for him, as he rose to his position of Division Claims Manager. I remember in particular a claims managers' seminar when the outside facilitator commented that she had never before seen a group that had such a fine relationship with its senior manager. That is the kind of esprit Bob instilled in all of us. He was a great leader and a true friend. Bob went on to even greater achievements in his professional and personal life. I will always remember Bob with great affection and the highest esteem. Bob, I'm heartened to know that you had the opportunity to fly your plane in the morning of what was to become a very sad day for the rest of us. May you continue to soar...

Linda, Greg and Kim Dick, Tom and their family I was sorry to hear about Bobâ€™s death. I remember Bob from our Waverly High School, his military service and state police years. We were high school classmates and friends and I have often thought of the many good times we had together. Although our lives took us in different directions after he left Illinois, over the years I often think of our fun, such as school pranks, the ballgames and our times spent in Jacksonville and Springfield. My wife and I were planning to try to get together with him and Linda in February in South Carolina. He was always so friendly, supportive and a good friend. Heartfelt sympathy from myself and Elaine to Linda, Kim. Greg and all Bob's family. Working and playing side by side in Chicago with Bob in the mid 60â€™s doesnâ€™t seem so long ago. The league teams we were on, golf outings, business trips, sporting events, many great meals, sharing of family news, all so enjoyable. Later accepting the opportunities offered by Bob with American Re in NYC, the benefit of his leadership, the personal success realized thanks to him, more golf, sporting events, too many more great meals, business trips, Linda and Bobâ€™s wedding, a memorable time at Greenbrier, seeing Greg and Kim as accomplished adults in their own right, sharing with numerous friends of Bob at different gatherings, what a great resource Bob has provided us all for pleasant reflections. May God keep Bob in His care until we get to see him again.

We Knew Bob and Linda from Belfair Country Club where they spent most of their spare time, We were honored to know Bob for the time that we did, he was so kind and generous to all. Linda & Family' I attended the funeral today, but did not get a chance to talk to you.I did get a chance to talk to Jane, Dick, your son & daughter. St. Mary's church was beautiful and Fr. Angel had a wonderful liturgy. The New Berlin ladies sang several of my favorite hymns. Bob was a very talented person. He could do anything he set his mind to. I am saddened knowing that Bob has passed away. I first met Bob in 1973 when he came to New Jersey on a promotion move with Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. That was my lucky day as I am sure many of his life's acquaintances will attest. Later on he helped me associate with American Re-Insurance Company. That move changed my life for the better many times over. Thank you Bob. Bob had an endearing and magnetic personality. Business associates could not get enough of him. He was the embodiment of the spit and polish of a Marine. He also had the look and comedic bearing and presence of Chevy Chase. A Mid-western gentleman to be sure. His every conversation began and ended with a little giggle of positive affirmation. I will miss knowing he is out there touching the lives of all who knew him, as he did mine. My condolences to Linda, Kim, Greg and Family. I first met Bob in the early 70's at a Veteran's Day Parade in Whippany, NJ. We were neighbors. We also discovered we were both members of the Insurance Inter-Company Arbitration Committee which met once a month. Later when Bob took a postion with American Re-Insurance in NYC, he asked that I join him. That request changed my life, as we worked together for many years. Bob will be remembered for his professional leadership both within and outside the Insurance Industry. He was a trusted friend and will be missed.

As the shock begins to wear off, good memories arise of Sunday family picnics on the farm, visits to the cow barn at the State Fair, basketball games, and so many more. As a cousin, Bob was the leader of the pack. He is missed.
