Robert W. Lowery

He was born on May 30, 1931 in Springfield, the son of the late Robert A. and Frances V. (Reeves) Lowery. He married Irma L. Cruse on September 23, 1950 in Springfield and she survives.

Mr. Lowery worked as a senior loan officer at First National Bank of Assumption for 10 years, retiring in 1996. Prior to that he worked at other local banks. He served in the Naval Reserves for 16 years and was a charter member of Chatham Baptist Church.

Besides his wife Irma, he is survived by 2 daughters Sharon (husband James) Croxton and Karon (husband Dennis) Gephart, both of Springfield, 2 granddaughters, Kaili (husband Doug) Gustafson of Springfield and Hillary Croxton of St. Louis, MO, 2 grandsons, Nicholas (wife Tiffany) Gephart of Granite City, IL and Jacob Gephart of Springfield, and 2 great-grandsons, Ryan and Wyatt Gustafson, both of Springfield. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son J. Allen Lowery, and a sister Rosetta “Bobby” Pervan.

Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield where visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Novy officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or St. Joseph Church, both in Springfield.
