

Robert D. McInerney, 63, of Chatham, died at 12:04 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center. Robert was born June 28, 1942 in Chicago, the son of Cornelius Michael and Eleanor Veronica McBride McInerney. He married Patricia Horsburgh on September 28, 2002 in Springfield. Mr. McInerney graduated from the University of Illinois in 1965. He worked as a disability specialist for the State of Illinois Department of Disability Services retiring in 2002. Robert attended St. Joseph Church in Chatham. He was a member of the U of I Alumni Association and loved the Fighting Illini and the Chicago White Sox. Robert also enjoyed ham radio, Garrison Keillor, horses, antique tractors, playing guitar and banjo and was also an avid reader. He is survived by his wife: Patricia McInerney of Chatham; one stepson: Thomas (wife, Jennifer) Fehrenbacher of Darien, IL; two stepgrandchildren: William “Will” R. and Catherine “Cate” Fehrenbacher of Darien, IL; three brothers: Jack (wife, Audrey) McInerney of Walnut Creek, CA, James F. McInerney of Springfield and Edward J. McInerney of Minneapolis, MN; two nephews: Casey McInerney of Walnut Creek, CA and Tim McInerney of Raleigh, NC; two step nieces: Michelle (husband, Brian) McGuire of Plymoth, MN and Angela (husband, Ben) Beaudet of Perry, IA; and one step nephew: Captain Michael Halley, stationed in SC. Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 700 E. Spruce St., Chatham with Rev. Robert Franzen celebrant. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Cancer Association, 1234 Sherman Ave., Ste. 203, Evanston, IL 60202.
