

Robert “Bob” Michael Rogers, 69, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday October 28, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on January 9, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri to Robert Leo and Mary Virginia Gillespie Rogers. He married Marcia E. Tiers on April 30, 1983 in Springfield and she survives.
He is also survived by his daughter Sarah E. Rogers of Springfield, four sisters: Carol (John Earl) Rogers of Hoboken, N.J., Terri Tessmer of Ferguson, MO., Patricia (David) Cassens of Edwardsville, IL., and Debra (Wallace) Bonham of St. Louis, MO., three nieces, three nephews, four great-grandnephews, three great-grandnieces and several cousins.
Bob graduated from Cahokia High School in 1962, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 1966 and the University of Illinois College of Law in 1969. He served his country in the US Army and then began his public service legal career which lasted for over 40 years. He initially worked for the State of Illinois at the Attorney General’s Office and the Office of the State Comptroller. He spent several years with the City of Springfield including eight years as Corporation Counsel for Mayor Karen Hasara.
