He was born on July 27, 1961 in Danville, IL, the son of the late Robert Eugene and Betty Ann (Holstine) Sanders.
Robert had worked as a machine operator for Contech Construction in Springfield. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved fishing and music, especially his favorite band, the Grateful Dead. His family and friends would best describe him as a gentle, caring, kind-hearted soul with a one-of-a-kind sense of humor.
He is survived by his son Dylan (wife Luna) Sanders of San Antonio, TX; a brother Doug (wife Alice) Sanders of Springfield; a sister Deborah (husband Elliott) O’Reilly of St. Louis, MO; his wife Jean Sanders; and his dog Wrigley.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, Springfield. No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation rites were accorded.
