

Robert Benedict Saner, 69, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at St. Johns Hospice with his family by his side. He was born May 9, 1947 in Springfield to the late Leo Benedict and Mary Mabel Arthalony Saner. He married Beatrice Ann Baise January 19, 2008. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Warner Saner in 2006, brothers John and Bernie Saner and sister Judith Saner. He worked as a machinist at Fiat Allis and Eaton and most recently as a monitor on school busses for First Student. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Beatrice; daughter, Andrea (Clayton) Woodward of OFallon, Mo; son, Steve Saner of Springfield; step children, Lori Ann DePellegrin (Edward) Mulligan of Florida, Noreen DePellegrin (Mark) Grant, Deborah DePellegrin (Larry) Lahey, Carla DePellegrin (Pete) Smothers, Theresa DePellegrin (significant other Jose Munzo) all of Illinois; 11 grandchildren; sister Mary Ellen (Henry) Schmidt of Petersburg and Tina (David) Symon of Bethel, WA; sisters-in-law Sharon Saner and Nini Saner both of Springfield; many nieces and nephews. Bobs services will begin with a prayer vigil, at 4pm, Friday, December 2, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham. Visitation will follow from 4:15pm until 7pm. A celebration of Bobs life will begin at 7pm, Friday with sharing of stories by family and friends and his favorite music. There will be visitation from 9am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10am, Saturday, December 3, at St. Frances Cabrini, 1020 North Milton Street, Springfield, with Fr. Richard Chiola officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for end of life expenses.
