Roger L. Ball, Sr.

Roger L. Ball, Sr., 75, of Milford, died at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Roger was born January 7, 1942 in Peoria, the son of Byron Wesley and Eleanor Frances Bunger Ball. He married Mary McDowell in 1966; they later divorced. He then married Carol Parrish Lyon on June 13, 1998 in Stockland, IL; she survives him. Roger graduated from Limestone Township High School and earned his bachelor's degree from St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He owned and operated Weber's Drug Store in Hoopeston from 1976 2004 and then retired from Pamida Pharmacy in Hoopeston in May, 2012. Roger was a member of both the Masons and Shriners. He was a past President of the IL Pharmacists Assoc. and served on the boards of Iroquois Memorial Hospital and the Danville Symphony. He enjoyed watching sports and racing, as well as traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald Ball; sister, Bonnie Freitag; and nephew, Timothy Freitag. He is also survived by his son, Roger L. (wife, Lisa) Ball, Jr. of Springfield; daughter, Michelle M. (husband, Tommy) Ball-Fauls of Venice, FL; step-daughters, Julie (husband, Phil) Jensen, Jody (husband, Terry) Fanning, and Stacey (husband, Dan) Piwoni; grandchildren, Anna M. Ball and Claire Froelich; step-grandchildren, Mark and Aaron Jensen, Tyler and Bailee Fanning, and Austin and Jacob Piwoni; brother, Norman (wife, Judi) Ball of Crystal Lake; brother-in-law, Carroll Freitag; the mother of his children, Mary (husband, Dan) Vandenberg of Hoopeston; one niece; and one nephew. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Ceremony and Gathering: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Milford United Methodist Church, 118 N. Axtel Ave., Milford, IL with Pastor Gail Meyers officiating. Memorial Gathering will follow until 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
