

Roger was born in Decatur on October 4, 1931, the son of Charles A. and Mary A. (Higgins) Walker. He married Janice Higgins on August 1, 1959 in Decatur, IL.
Roger graduated from Decatur High School in 1949. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War as a combat infantryman. Roger achieved the rank of Sergeant and was awarded a Purple Heart. He worked as a graphic artist for Rand McNally and then was a Sales Manager Director for Phillips Brothers Printing for 31 years. Roger enjoyed traveling, computer games, Nintendo, technology, photography, golfing, bowling, and working in his yard. He was also a devout Cubs, Bears and Illini fan.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Marlys Thompson and Janice Walker.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janice of Springfield; son, Steven A. Walker of Mattoon; daughter, Lisa (Mike) Kincaid of Buffalo; grandchildren, Mitchell (Natasha) Walker of Petersburg, Ashley (Matt) Shatkus of Wall, NJ, Bradley (Alexis) Kincaid of San Diego, CA, and Todd (Tiffany) Kincaid of Mechanicsburg; great-grandchildren, Madison, Samuel, and Scarlett Shatkus, Parker and Amelia Kincaid, and Tanner, Haddie, and Haley Kincaid; sister, Barbara Clements of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.
The family is being served by Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
A private graveside ceremony will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense.
