Ronald Lee Anderson

Ronald L. Anderson, 70, died from a short battle with cancer on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.

He was born on May 1, 1941, in Pana, IL the son of Herbert H. and Edna L. (Peek) Anderson. He later married Phyllis Snyder of June 17, 1962, she survives.

Ronald served in the United States Air force. He later worked as an Aircraft Mechanic for over 50 years, working for Garrett Aviation for 26 years. Ronald was Plane Crazy and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Illinois Pilot’s Association, Aircraft Owner’s and Pilot Association. He also loved to restore and rebuild antiques airplanes. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springfield.

Besides his wife, Phyllis, he is survived by his daughter Diana and her husband Clay Sandidge of Auburn, grandchildren Colton and Lindsey Sandidge, Sister June husband Eli Ade of Rosemond, IL, Brother Robert and his wife Carolyn Anderson of Nokomis, IL and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Joyce Dirks and niece Jody McGlauchlen.

Visitation will be Friday, July 1, 2011 from 5pm to 8pm at Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd in Springfield. Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 10 am at the First United Methodist Church 2924 S. Koke Mill Rd in Springfield, with Reverend Michael Paulson officiating. Burial will follow at Island Grove Cemetery in New Berlin.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Anderson Family.
