Ronald graduated from Pleasant Plains High School in 1965 and from Blackburn College in 1969. He began his career in education, teaching in the Pleasant Plains School District, before retiring to assist his father with the family farm.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Ron played basketball in high school and college, and he later served as Assistant Basketball Coach at Pleasant Plains. He also enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball for Brandt’s and Duffy’s, as well as spending time on the golf course.
Beyond athletics, Ron was a talented wood carver who took great joy in creating Looney Tunes characters. He was also an avid gardener who delighted in growing vegetables, flowers, and pumpkins.
Ron was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He is survived by his two sisters, Karen Stephens (Short) and Marjorie Penick (John), along with eight nieces and nephews and eighteen great-nieces and great-nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on February 7 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Gardner Township Hall, 1266 N. Bradfordton Road, Springfield.
