Ronald E. Sarff

He was born in Peoria on October 9, 1943, the son of Emery and Dorothy (Wilson) Sarff. Ronald married Joan Kucera in Joliet on May 25, 1968.

Ronald graduated from Feitshans High School with the class of 1961. He worked at Caterpillar in the engineering department in Joliet with Joan before retiring in 1996. Ronald also proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1961-1964 where he was stationed in Hawaii during the Vietnam era before being honorably discharged. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, learning about history, tracking planes, learning technology, surfing, and traveling with Joan- especially to Europe and Hawaii.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jack Denton.

Ronald is survived by his wife; cousins, Patricia Sandidge and LeVonne Straton; and close family friend, Shannon (Rick) Shofner.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday June 22, 2026, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, 5023 Camp Butler Road, Springfield, IL 62707, with Reverend Jim Isaacson. Military honors will be provided.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Illinois Food Bank.
