He was born on December 15, 1936, in Springfield, IL, the son of Homer C. and Ernestine E. (Truter) Spencer. Ronald married Donna M. Prentice on July 18, 1959, in Springfield.
Ron attended Feitshans High School. He went on to work in the plumbing industry. Ronald was a member of Elks Club. Ron and Donna enjoyed traveling to Arizona for the winter. He was always working and fixing things around the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack, Clarence, Larry, and Bill Spencer; sisters, Donna, Barbara, Peggy, Karen, Nancy, and Cheryl; sons, Kenton and Ronald Spencer, Jr.; and daughter, Debbie Meyer.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Donna Spencer of Springfield; son, Kevin (Julie) Spencer of Springfield; daughter, Vicki Hammond of Liberal, KS; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, prior to service.
Memorial Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home -Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
