Ronald F. Walsh

Ronald F. "Ron" Walsh, 55, of Springfield died at 2:19 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at St. John's Hospital. Ron was born March 27, 1952 in Springfield, the son of Francis "Franny" and Ethelyn Downs Walsh. Ron was a graduate of Southeast High School. He was employed in the maintenance field by St. Nicholas Apartments at the time of his retirement in May 2007. He previously worked for Lincoln Square Apartments. He was a member of American Legion Post #32. Ron enjoyed watching sports, keeping up on stats on national and local teams. He was a fan of the Fighting Illini and the St. Louis Cardinals. He is preced in death by his parents Francis "Franny" Walsh and Ethelyn Duggan. He is survived by a sister: Donna (husband, Gary) Crompton of Springfield; two brothers: Robert "Norm" (wife, Gayle) Walsh of Modesto, CA and James T. Sullivan of Springfield; aunts; unlces; two nieces; three nephews; and several cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:45 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral ceremonies will follow at 7:00 p.m with Pastor Jeff Nelson officiating. Following ceremonies, cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
