

Rose Mary Colasacco, 95, of Springfield, died at 2:15 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Rose was born December 20, 1919 in Riverton, the daughter of Tito and Florence DiProfio DeSalle. She married Diomand Colasacco on August 25, 1945; he preceded her in death on September 22, 1977. Rose was a 1936 graduate of Ursuline Academy and worked in the sewing room at St. John's Hospital, and then at Sangamo Electric. She has been a homemaker since 1945. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and frequently attended daily Mass. She was also a member of St. Anthony's Club and St. Aloysius' prayer chain. She was a member of the Sangamon County Home Extension for many years. Rose enjoyed crocheting, sewing and crafts. Rose was most proud of raising her family. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Jenny Bartletti, Ida Daniels, Sr. M. Angela DeSalle, OSF, Dora Robbins, and Clara Hanselman; one brother, Robert DeSalle; and two sons, Thomas and Ronald Colasacco. She is survived by one daughter, JoAnn (husband, Daniel) Rachford of Springfield; three grandchildren, Erin Rachford, Brian (wife, Julie) Rachford, and Jeff (fianc, Courtney Petersen) Rachford; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Rowen Rachford; one sister-in-law, Linda DeSalle of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2000 Sangamon Ave., Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
