Rose Marie "Rosi" Johnson

Rosi was born January 10, 1948, in Springfield, the daughter of Leonard F. and Allene McClelland Johnson.

She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1966 and was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years. Rosi enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing, reading, birdwatching, and loved her dogs. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elizabeth Sue “Bethi” Prather; and brothers, James, John, Thomas, and David Johnson.

Rosi is survived by her sons, James “Kelly” (Laerke) Thornton of Spain, Sean (Angela Sweet) Thornton of Normal, IL, and Leonard “Lenny” (significant other, Amanda Titsworth) Thornton of Chatham, IL; grandchildren, Millicent, Anna, Dawson, Ellie, Grace, Freya, and Aiden Thornton; siblings, Sara Jane “Sally” Prewitt, Patricia “Trish” Duknoski, and Robert W. (Connie) Johnson, all of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

Private Family Graveside Ceremony will be held at at St. Mary's Cemetery in New Berlin with Rev. Brian Alford officiating.
