

Roseann Hopwood, 69, of Springfield, Illinois died at 12:35 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Mercy Hospice Home in Johnston, IA of complications following a stroke. Roseann was born March 30, 1949, in Springfield, the daughter of John and Ann Shimkus Klinc. Roseann graduated from Ursuline Academy, earned her bachelors degree from Western Illinois University in Art, and her masters degree from the University of Central Florida in Special Education. She was employed with District 186 for 19 years and previously worked at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL in 1972. Roseann was a member of St. Joseph Church in Springfield where she helped with liturgies, seasonal decorating, and family religious classes. She was also a member of the Art Association, Arts Council, Community Boards in Orlando and Springfield, and the SSG Club. Roseann enjoyed learning about global cultures, traveling, and art. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Klinc. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (husband Travis) Newton and Leanne Hopwood, both of Urbandale, IA; and grandchildren, Josie, Merryn, and Lydia Newton. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Manuel P. Cuizon officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
