She was born on December 12, 1932 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of the late Velvun and Marian (Fears) Cummins. She married Marshall Shearburn and they later divorced. She then married Mitchell Brown and he preceded her in death.
Rosemary owned and operated Cottonwood Cove and Rolling Meadows Mobile Home Parks. She had also managed Top Dollar Motor Sales and Mitchell Brown Real Estate. She loved reading, nature, teaching, and travel. She also loved flying and obtained her pilot’s license. She flew on the Concorde to England when it came to Springfield and returned to New Yorkon the QE2. She also made many trips to Las Vegas
She is survived by her children, Karen Shearburn of Venice, FL, Mikel Shearburn of Milwaukee, WI, Robin Shearburn of Indianapolis, IN, Jerri Edgington of Fort Collins, CO, and Jill Persinos of Kissimmee, FL; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Helen Harrison of Crestwood, MO, Virginia Burnstein of Colorado Springs, CO, Gary Cummins of New Carlisle, OH, Judy Ortiz of Placerville, CA, and Shari Cummins of North Port, FL.
Besides her parents, Velvun and Marian Cummins, and her husband, Mitchell Brown, she was preceded in death by her daughter Kristina McAllister; and her great-grandson Alec Cartwright.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11 am at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield. A Gathering of family and friends will also take place on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 4 pm at Southwinds Park in Springfield. Inurnment will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11 am at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
