Ruth M. Dyson

Ruth M. Dyson, of Springfield, died at 12:50 p.m. on her 85th birthday at Memorial Medical Center. Ruth was born March 1, 1930 in Pike County, IL, the daughter of Will and Mary Hannel. She married Thomas Schlindwein and he preceded her in death in 1987. She later met and married G. Robert Dyson, Sr. on February 27, 1993 in Springfield. Ruth attended Griggsville High School and was employed throughout her life with various companies, including Hub Clothiers, Jerome Water Department, Sears, and she was also an Avon Representative. She enjoyed ceramics, spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading, and traveling. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her husband, G. Robert Dyson of Springfield; son, Jeff (wife, Diane) Schlindwein of Chatham; daughter, Lisa (husband, David) Sherell of Springfield; stepchildren, Kirk (wife, Mary) Dyson, G. Robert (wife, Carol) Dyson, Jr., both of Springfield, and Judy Lancaster of Taylorville; eight grandchildren, Bill (wife, Heather) Sherell of Rochester, Dustin (wife, Karen) Schlindwein of Chatham, Rachel (husband, Brad) Patarozzi of Springfield, Whitney (husband, Scott) Cornish of Chatham, Jacob (companion, Elizabeth Hartman) Sherell of Chatham, Trevor Schlindwein of Chatham, Nathan Schlindwein of Springfield, and Ryan Schlindwein of Chatham; nine great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Florence Acree and Ruby Acree, both of Springfield, and Jerry (wife, Bessie) Hannel of Ashland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Laurel United Methodist Church, 631 S. Grand Ave. West, Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Laurel United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Kent Lolling officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
