Ruth F. Ellington

Ruth F. Ellington, 80, of Springfield, died at 10:35 p.m. on December 17, 2014 at the Villa East in Sherman. Ruth was born in Highland, IL on March 1, 1934, the daughter of Eugene and Laura Dressor Ferguson. She married Paul Ellington on April 16, 1954 in Greenville, IL. Ruth graduated from Greenville High School and earned her associate's degree from Greenville College. She started as a Teacher's Aide in 1968 for District 186 and later was employed with the Scope program until her retirement in 2003 as Assistant Coordinator. She was a member of Third Presbyterian Church for 40 years, where she served as a deacon. Prior to that, she was a member of Fifth Presbyterian for 20 years. She enjoyed going to church and spending time with family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Paulauskis; and four brothers, Francis, Henry, Don, and William Ferguson. She is survived by her husband, Paul of Springfield; son, David (wife, Jamie) Ellington of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Sue (husband, John) Paulauskis of Maryville, IL; three grandchildren, Gina (husband, Brad) Paulauskis Lockwood of Franklin, WI, Lauren Ellington and Glenn Ellington, both of St. Louis, MO; sister, Mary (husband, Ben) File of Pocahontas, IL; and many nieces and nephews, including her "special niece," Carla File Scott. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. An additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at Third Presbyterian Church, 1030 N. 7th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Third Presbyterian Church, 1030 N. 7th St., Springfield, IL 62702 with Pastor Brent Mitchell officiating.
