Ruth M. Heim, 91, of Springfield, passed away at her eldest daughter's home in Kincaid, at 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2014. She had suffered a large stroke and congestive heart failure. She was cared for at home with the wonderful help of caregivers, including Kris Heim and Memorial Hospice. She was visited by her youngest daughter, Laurie; her son, Bill; her grandson, Zachery Heim; and her oldest best friend, Marilyn Wagoner. Ruth was widowed in 2001 when her husband of 52 years, Kenneth Heim died, also in Kincaid. Ruth was born on July 25, 1922 in Jacksonville IL. She was the fourth child of Arliegh and Lillian Mitchell Horton. She follows in passing her four siblings: Charles, Betty June, Edward, and youngest, Chester. She was a 1941 graduate of Jacksonville High School and an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Lanphier High School, and the University of Illinois. She was always an informed voter and committed to the Democratic Party since FDR; she wanted to "live long enough to vote for Hillary." After many decades living near White Oaks Mall, she spent three happy years at the Illinois Presbyterian Sheltered Care Home of Springfield. She is survived by her three children: Kris Heim of Kincaid, William Heim of Springfield and Laurie Heim Jamieson of Bellevue, WA; and three grandsons: Dmitri Cornellier of Kincaid, Zach Heim of Chatham, and Colin Jamieson of Bellevue, WA. She has been further blessed with two great-grandsons, Owen and Benjamin Heim and "on the way" a girl, expected by Zach and Tonya Heim. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Burial will be next to her husband at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Family will host a time for a graveside ceremony where friends may gather at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, and would then be invited to her only son's home for an informal gathering with snacks, photos, old stories, and discussion.
