

Ryan J. Murphy, 37, of Springfield, died at 10:59 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2017 at his home. Ryan was born May 21, 1980 in Decatur, the son of Tom and Kim Murphy. Ryan graduated from Sacred Heart-Griffin High School in 1998, where he played football and was Prom King. He owned and operated his own trucking business, Murphy Trucking and Excavating. He was a member of St. Marys Church in Farmersville and Knights of Columbus Council 1152. Ryan enjoyed farming, showing cattle, hunting, boating, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Dolphins fan. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Harold Murphy and maternal grandfather, Edward Keen. He is survived by his mother, Kim Murphy of Springfield; father, Tom Murphy of Virden; grandparents, Virginia Murphy of Farmersville and Margaret Keen of Springfield; brother, Rory Murphy of Brooklyn, NY; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at St. Marys Church, 310 Nobbe St., Farmersville. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017 at St. Marys Church with Rev. Gerald L. Bunse, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin Cemetery in Farmersville.
