Sandy was born on September 8, 1942, in Springfield, the daughter of Robert and Mary Rose Black. Sandy was a graduate of Williamsville High School. She spent most of her career working in doctors’ offices and spent over 20 years working for Dr. James Davis. She always greeted everyone with a smile. Her laugh was infectious.
Sandy spent her free time doing volunteer work with organizations such as the UIS Auditorium and Concordia Memory Care. She was a member of Christ the King Parish and the Red Hats and Retirement Club. She enjoyed attending local theater shows, working on puzzles, gardening, and sharing times with her children and grandchildren. Sandy enjoyed baking anything sweet. She was known for her banana and apple breads and loved sharing her treats with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joyce Bell.
She is survived by her children, Gregory Grant, M.D. of Naperville, IL; Douglas (Katy) Grant of Walnut Creek, CA, and Gail (Phil) Capps of Springfield, IL; eight grandchildren; three brothers and one sister.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
