

Sally was born October 18, 1952 in Springfield, the daughter of Charles and Vurla Cowden Barnes. She married David Young on September 24, 1976 in Coral Springs, FL, who was her sole provider throughout her illness. Sally always had a positive attitude throughout her illness and was seldom seen without a smile on her face.
Sally was a graduate of Auburn High School and was a member of Westside Christian Church. She worked as an office clerk at F.W. Means and later was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 19 years. Sally was very family oriented and enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, music festivals, gardening and her pets. She was happiest when with her family and friends, and her beloved pup, Lucy. Sally and Dave lived life to the fullest, traveling extensively on their road trips, never putting off adventure until tomorrow. She had no regrets.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Vurla Barnes.
She is survived by her husband, David; two sons, Adam (Beth) Young of Chicago and Eric (Keri) Young of Davenport, IA; one stepson, Zachary (Raynee) Young of Pittsburg, PA; six grandchildren, Zachary, Liam, Connor, Madelyn, Clara, and Sophia Young; three sisters, Nellie Johnson of Powell, TN, Sandra Laurent of Divernon, and Mary Barry of Hoffman Estates, IL; one brother, Ronald Barnes of Auburn; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Ceremony at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield

Sally's family sends a special thanks to Dr. Jyoti Patel and the staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and Dr. Amit Gupta and the staff at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, who along with Sally's fighting spirit, enabled her and Dave to continue with their love of travel, hitting every stop on her bucket list and enabled her to witness and hold her two latest grandchildren, Clara and Sophia, born in the last seven months.
