

Born on March 29, 1963, in Springfield, Shari was the daughter of Russell and Patricia (Hendricker) Casper.
Shari dedicated more than 35 years to the Illinois State Police. She was a hardworking and dependable employee who took pride in her career.
Family was the center of Shari's life. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with those she loved, especially during holiday celebrations. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Shari was known for her kindness and caring spirit.
Shari found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved spending time outdoors in the sunshine, tending to her garden, and relaxing with a good book -especially one with an interesting cover. She enjoyed music of all kinds and appreciated the beauty in everyday moments. Above all, Shari will be remembered for her practical nature, resourcefulness, and remarkable ability to save a penny or two.
She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Casper; and her brother, Steve Casper.
Shari is survived by her daughter, Katie (Mike) Gillum; her grandchildren, Michael Gillum, Marissa Gillum, Jordan Gillum, and Gianna Dipasquale; her great-grandchildren, Gervonta and Michael Jr.; her mother, Patricia Casper; her siblings, Tricia Casper, Karen (Bob) Ferry, and Dan (Pat) Casper; her nephew, Jeremy Ferry; and two nieces, Tessa Casper and Jenay Casper.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, until the time of the Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with Celebrant Judy Woerner.
