

Shirley Rose Gorden, 81, of Springfield, died at 11:11 a.m. on Monday, November 8, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. Shirley Rose was born August 23, 1929 in Quincy, the daughter of John and Julia Guth McDonald. She married Simon Gorden on March 10, 1950. She was preceded in death by her parents, and thirteen siblings. Shirley was a graduate of Feitshans High School and retired after a long beloved career in the Intensive Care Unit at St. John's Hospital. She was also a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Shirley's greatest love was for her family, especially her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Grandma Yetta." She is survived by her husband, Simon of Springfield; four children, Samuel (wife, Carol) Gorden, William Gorden, Jennifer (husband, Dennis) Herrington, and Michelle Gorden, all of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Shaindel Kramer, Jacob and Audrey Julia Gorden, Aidan and Noah Maurer, Ben and Julia Gorden; two great-grandchildren, Lucy and Vivian Kramer; son-in-law, John E. Maurer of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to her ceremonies. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. The gathering will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N.
