

Shirley Grace Hoelzer, 91, of Springfield, died at 3:48 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at River Birch Senior Living. Shirley was born December 14, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of David Edward and Florence Johnson Reichenbacher. She married Robert F. Hoelzer on September 4, 1949 in Manhasset, NY; he preceded her in death. Shirley was a graduate of Roslyn High School in NY. She was a former president of the North Strathmore Women's Club and the Manhasset Community Club. She served for 25 years as a Republican Precinct Committeewoman in Manhasset, NY. She was an avid bridge player. She was also preceded in death by her parents and twin sister, Norma Reichenbacher. She is survived by her son, David R. (wife, Karen L.) Hoelzer of Springfield; three grandchildren, John D. (wife, Jeanette) Hoelzer of Laredo, TX, William R. (wife, Emily) Hoelzer of Portland, OR, and Kathryn A. (husband, Michael) McEvilly of Houston, TX; one great-grandchild, Oliver John Hoelzer; and sister, Ruth Faber of Wallingford, CT. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Memorial Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Laurel United Methodist Church, 631 S. Grand Avenue West, Springfield with Rev. Jerry King officiating.
