

Shirley E. Shaw, 76, of Springfield, died at 5:07 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2015 at Heritage Health. Shirley was born September 1, 1939 in Springfield, the daughter of Kenneth and Edna M. Glick Carnahan. She married David J. Shaw on January 15, 1960 at Church of the Little Flower; he preceded her in death on August 28, 2002. Shirley was a graduate of Enos Elementary School and a 1957 graduate of Lanphier High School. She worked as a reservationist at Ozark Airlines starting in 1957, and later worked as a travel agent for many years. In addition, she owned and operated Shaw Insurance Agency, volunteered at Lincoln Souvenir Gift Shop and St. John's Hospital Gift Shop. She was a member of the Ladies Elk's Club #158 and belonged to a bowling league, the Thursday Morning Confusion group. Shirley and her late husband, David, traveled to several different countries together. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing and Bunco. She was also preceded in death by her father and infant son, John F. Shaw. She is survived by her mother, Edna Carnahan of Springfield; one son, Kenneth (wife, Joy) Shaw of Edwardsville; one daughter, Lynette Shaw of Springfield; and one granddaughter, Samantha Shaw and cousin, Betty Ushman. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the memorial ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
