Shirley A. Spielman, 80, of Springfield, passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. Shirley was born April 16, 1934 in Amboy, IL, the daughter of Robert and Goldie (Nelson) Bland. Shirley was a graduate of Amboy High School. She was employed as a Director of Governor's Mail Control, Director of all IL State County Fairs, Compliance officer keeping IL Dept of Public Aid in compliance with U.S. federal law, and in charge and an advocate of HFS Disabilities. Shirley was generous and caring humanitarian, who helped many people. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Brett A. Spielman; and her sisters, Ledia M., Marguerite E., and Diana. She is survived by her sons, Eric (wife, Teri) Spielman of Amboy, IL, and Craig and Lance Spielman, both of Springfield; five grandchildren, James R., Matthew L. (wife, Aja), Stevie L., Aiyanna N., and Skylar A. Spielman; and two great-grandchildren, Ayreona and Rusty. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
