Silvey L. "Red" Smith, Jr., 53, of Springfield, passed away at 8:53 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at St. John's Hospital. Red was born July 9, 1957 in Beardstown, the son of Silvey and Ruby Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wilma Smith; and son, Joseph Faegans in 1990. He is survived by his wife, Helen Faegans of Springfield; sons, Donald, Ronald (Michelle) and John Faegans, all of Springfield; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 11:30-12:30 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Graveside ceremonies and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2010 at Roselawn Memorial Park.
