

Sister M. Christine Hatton, OP, 88, a Dominican Sister of Springfield, died Monday June 13, 2011. She was born to Raymond and Margaret McGur Hatton in Havana. She joined the Springfield Dominicans in 1944. From 1946 1969, Sister M. Christine taught in Catholic parish elementary schools: St. Norbert, Hardin, St. Mary, East Moline, Sacred Heart, Pana, St. Charles, Hampshire, St. Anne, St. Anne, St. Thomas, Newton, St. Christina and Our Lady of Grace, Chicago, St. Patrick and St. Cabrini, Springfield. In her years at the motherhouse, Sister was known as a patient and prayerful religious. Sister M. Christine was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Raymond. She is survived by her brother James of Lanett, AL; her sisters, Linda Sager of Elmwood and Theresa McMullen of Table Grove; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Sacred Heart Convent: Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 3:30-6:15 p.m.; Vigil Service: 4:30 p.m.; Funeral Mass: 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Peter Witchousky OP, presiding. Final Commendation will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Convent with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
