

Sister Miriam Joseph Bardot, O.S.F. (101) of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis died on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 11:47 a.m. at St. Francis Convent, Springfield, Illinois. Sister Miriam Joseph, the former Kathryn Leona Bardot, was born in Luebbering, Missouri on March 17, 1916, the daughter of August and Cecilia Barband Bardot. She entered the Congregation on February 2, 1937 and professed her religious vows on October 4, 1939. Sister graduated from St. Johns School of Nursing in 1943 and from Quincy College in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. During her long years of ministry, she served in various HSHS hospitals in Wisconsin and Illinois in the Business Office, as well as in the areas of Administration, Admitting, and Accounting. Sister retired from active duty in 1996. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Raymond and James Bardot and five sisters: Cora Hanngiesser, Helen Schroeder, Mary McDermott, Alice Powers, and Rosalie Baur. She is survived by a nephew, David Baur, of Gray, Maine and her Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared her life for over 80 years. Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at St. Francis Convent with a Wake Service at 6:00 p.m. Eucharistic Celebration and Rite of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2017 in St. Clare of Assisi Adoration Chapel at St. Francis Convent with Father Andre Schludecker, O.F.M, presiding. Burial will be in Crucifixion Hill Cemetery.
