Sister Wilma Marie (M. Pius) Broemmel, OP, 98, a Dominican Sister of Springfield, died November 30, 2014. She was born in Quincy to Bernard and Antoinette Holtkamp Broemmel. After joining the Springfield Dominicans in 1954, Sister taught at Little Flower and St. Agnes in Springfield, St. Bernadette in Evergreen Park, St. Mary in Mt Sterling, Routt High School in Jacksonville, St. Joseph in Bradley, Holy Ghost in Jerseyville, and St. Charles Borromeo in Hampshire. From 1991-2001, she ministered in pastoral care at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, MS. After Sister "retired," she provided community support services at Sacred Heart Convent. Sister Wilma Marie was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Lawrence and Richard. She is survived by five nephews. Visitation: A visitation will be held from 3:30-6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Sacred Heart Convent, 1237 W. Monroe St., Springfield. A Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Sacred Heart Convent, followed by commendation and burial at Calvary Cemetery with Rev.
