Sister M. Leonette Clancy, OP, 91, a Dominican Sister of Springfield, died March 21. She was born to Mary Ann (Hough) and James Clancy in Chicago. She joined the Dominican Sisters in 1935. Sister's ministries included serving as a teacher, musician and principal; she also served as motherhouse prioress. She is remembered as a music teacher, pianist and organist at schools and parishes: Cathedral, Little Flower and St. Patrick, Springfield; St. John Bosco and St. Edward, Chicago; Holy Cross, Mendota; and Sacred Heart in Redlands and San Diego, CA. Sister M. Leonette was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James and her sister, Sister Mary Ann Eileen BVM. She is survived by a nephew Christopher Clancy of LaTuna Canyon, CA and a niece Carol Santi of Columbia, SC. Visitation: 3:30-6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Sacred Heart Convent, 1237 Monroe St., Springfield, with a Vigil Service at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Mass: 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Sacred Heart Convent with Rev. Peter Witchousky OP, presiding. Final Commendation: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Sacred Heart Convent with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
