Stacy Lee (Stace) Cameron, 68, died at his home at 10pm Wednesday, after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Terri Porter Cameron; daughter, Caitlin (Brendan) Reichert; granddaughter, Cameron Grace Reichert; goddaughter, Katharine (Daniel) Ellis; sister, Lynne Cameron; and a loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Luella Muegge Cameron; a brother, Christopher; and sister, Sherry.
Stace was born in Quincy November 16, 1952. He married Terri Porter on April 14, 1979 in Alton, IL. He lived in Springfield most of his life, attending Trinity Lutheran School and Springfield High School. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Math. After 32 years at SIU School of Medicine, he retired as the Director of Administrative Computing in 2010.
Stace was an Elder at Trinity Lutheran Church for over 30 years, as well as serving as the church’s network administrator and webmaster for 15 years. He loved to travel, and enjoyed several family trips each year, visiting an air museum whenever possible. He added great memories to these trips by photobombing at every opportunity.
His greatest love was his family, and he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who never tired of playing Prince to his two favorite princesses. Since we couldn’t travel this past summer, Stace spent many hours making memories playing in Cameron Grace’s castle and swinging her on her swing. They loved snuggling and reading together, and she could always bring a smile to his face, even when he was tired and weak.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, Springfield. A memorial service will be held in April.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran School.
