

Susan F. Carter, 59, of Sherman, died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center following a long illness. Susan was born April 17, 1945 in Springfield, the daughter of Charles J. and Dorothy V. Simms Carter. She graduated from Williamsville High School in 1963 and received her BA and MS in Accounting from Sangamon State University. She resided and worked in the Chicago and Springfield areas, retiring as an auditor with the Illinois State Board of Education in 2003. Susan was preceded in death by her father: Charles J. Carter; two brothers: Charles Davis, an infant brother and one nephew. She is survived by her mother: Dorothy V. Carter of Sherman; one sister: Donna (husband, Neal) Johnson of Fulton, MO; two brothers: Ronald (wife, Karol) Carter and Michael (wife, Jacque) Carter both of Colorado; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. Cremation accorded by Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. In accordance with Susan’s wishes, a memorial reception for family and friends will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at the Brinkerhoff Home, 1500 N. 5th St., Springfield. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mini-O’Beirne Crisis Nursery, 1011 N. 7th St. Springfield, IL 62702. The family of Susan F. Carter is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
