Sylvia A. Thomas, 63, of Springfield, died at 8:08 a.m., Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Mrs. Thomas was born May 28, 1951, in Taylorville, Ill., the daughter of William Rodney and Orma June Childers. She married William Thomas on June 28, 1987, in Springfield; he survives. She was preceded in death by one brother, David. Survivors also include two sons, Jeff Thomas and William Thomas, both of Springfield; five brothers: Wayne of Fort Myers, Fla., and Paul, Jim, Jerry, and Billy, all of Springfield; three sisters: Mary Lou of Springfield, Becky of Decatur and Chris of Springfield; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Thomas retired from the Secretary of State's office. She loved garage sales. Graveside Ceremony: Will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg, Ill.
