

Ted J. Pietrzak, 71, of Springfield, died at 12:45 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2008 at St. John's Hospital. Ted was born on December 17, 1937 in Warsaw, Poland, the son of Bruno and Eva Belkot Pietrzak. Ted immigrated to the United States with his family in 1950. He attended St. Joseph School and graduated in 1957 from St. James Trade School. He was a meat cutter by trade working for National Food Stores for 45 year and most recently for Schnuck's. Ted was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union # 543 and the Knights of Columbus Council # 4175. He enjoyed yardwork, woodworking, watching movies and listening to music. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bruno J. Pietrzak; a sister, Janina Szkutnik; two nephews, Jerry and Stanley Szkutnik; and a son-in law, Mike Strayer. He is survived by five daughters, Lori Strayer of Edinburg, Kathy (husband, Allen) Grant of Decatur, Bobbie (husband, David) Garrison of Fairfield, IA, Pam Klyber of Edinburg and Mindy Sheese of Freedom, IN; ten grandchildren, Nicole Strayer, Nathan Strayer, Josh Ceperich, Randy Grant, Brandon Garrison, Amber Garrison, Amanda Leach, Sean Klyber, Seth Sheese and Thaddeus Sheese; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Blazis of Springfield; nieces, Boguslawa Sapielkin of Poland, and Barbara (husband Larry) Stover of Springfield; nephews, Vincent (wife Debbie) Blazis of Missouri, John and Fred Blazis of Springfield, and Enoch (wife Donna) Blazis of Minnesota; and several great nieces and nephews Family will receive friends from 5:00 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Christopher A. House officiant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
