He was born Oct. 23, 1955, in Werzberg, Germany. Terry enjoyed his life to the fullest and he was always laughing, smiling, and joking. His favorite sports teams were the Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and the Illini. His favorite hobbies were golf and fishing. In his younger days he also competed in the tough man boxing tournament. As would be expected, his favorite song was “Born to be Wild”.
Surviving are nieces and nephews: Michael Kleppin, Connor, Ashley, and Samuel Kleppin; Jennifer Ziats Houston, Stephanie and Emily Ziats; Stephanie Kleppin, Ryon, Ryon Jr., Kaleb and Hailey Kleppin; Michael Houston, Jonas, and Eva Houston; Kathryn Richardson Houston, Kameron, Allison and Natalie Richardson; Matthew Houston, Jack and Lily Houston; Sarah Bond Houston, Payton, McKenzie, and James Bond; Kyle Houston. Also surviving are two brothers: Jerald (Susan) Houston of Florissant, Mo., Gary (Mary) Houston of Pana.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer J. and Kathryn M. Houston, and his sister Mary(Pennie) Kaye Houston. Terry was a resident of Springfield most of his life, graduated with the Lanphier class of 1973 and was a chef at Chesapeake Seafood restaurant. Terry expressed a desire for any donations to go towards the American Lung Association.
