Theodore S. Proud Jr., 90, of Springfield, passed away on June 28, 2025 at his residence. He was born on November 14, 1934 in Chicago to Dr.Theodore S. Proud Sr., and Elizabeth Morrison. Ted married Camille Muelchi in Vandalia, Illinois on July 27, 1963 and she survives.
Mr. Proud is also survived by his daughters, Dr. Cara Vasconcelles and husband Mark of Springfield, IL., and their three children, Emily Vasconcelles of Chicago, IL., Dr. Ryan Vasconcelles and Adam Vasconcelles of Springfield, IL; Jennifer Bergemann and husband Tim of Hood River, OR and their two daughters, Hannah Bergemann of Bellingham, WA and Abigail Bergemann of Bozemann, MT and son, Matthew Proud and wife Jill and their three children, Harrison Proud, Devon Proud and Claire Proud, all of Elmhurst, IL.
Ted graduated from Hanover College in 1957 and worked at Norwegian American Hospital until he entered Northwestern University School of Business from which he graduated in 1961 with a degree in Hospital Administration. He worked at several Chicago area hospitals, the last one being Northlake Podiatry Hospital. He graduated from Chicago Kent College of Law in 1968 with a Juris Doctor degree and entered the private practice of law, from which he retired in 2007. Ted was an avid stamp collector and model train collector. He loved biking with his wife and friends and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He loved to read and especially loved conversing with veterans concerning the World Wars.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday July 26, 2025 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 533 South Walnut in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Millikin University student scholarship fund and Tunnel2Towers.
