Thomas P. “Tommy” Chunes, Jr., 48, of Springfield, died at 9:55 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003 at St. John’s Hospice. Tommy was born November 11, 1954 in Springfield the son of Thomas Paul Chunes, Sr. and Dorothy Powell Chunes. Mr. Chunes attended St. Peter & Paul and Lanphier High School and was employed by Pro Tec Builders, Inc. He was a longtime member of the Sangchris Bass Club and Coffeen Winter Circuit tournaments. He is survived by one daughter: Tonya Jo of Springfield; one son: Thomas Paul III of Springfield; three grandchildren; parents: Thomas P. Chunes, Sr. and Dorothy Chunes of Springfield; one sister: Elizabeth “Beth” Ann Haynes of Springfield and former wife, Mary Jo. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Martin officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospital, Hospice Program, 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62702.
