

Thomas Pavletich, 91, of Sherman, and formerly of Oakland, CA, died at 5:54 a.m., on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Villa Health Care East in Sherman. Tom was born May 9, 1919 in Toluca, the son of Matthew J. and Katie Stimac Pavletich. Tom was a shipyard welder by trade and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #104 in CA. Tom enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle and flying his plane. He also loved to build things. He loved music and played the accordion, harmonica, piano, guitar and violin. He is preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, John, Joseph, Nicholas and Matthew M. Pavletich. He is survived by his four sisters, Bertha Burt of Pawnee, Mary Majewski of St. Charles, Catherine Murphy of Virden and Elsie (Carl) Venvertloh of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held from 3:00 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 E. Lawrence, Springfield with Rev. Peter C. Harman, celebrant. Additional visitation will be held at Sunset View Mortuary, El Cerrito, CA from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2010. A funeral ceremony will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Sunset View Cemetery in El Cerrito, CA.
