

Thomas Alan Schaefer, Sr, 55, a resident of Chatham since 1989, died at 3:14 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at St. John’s Hospital. Thomas was born on November 23, 1951 in Jacksonville, the son of Gilbert and Eileen Lovekamp Schaefer. He married Frances Vicari on December 17, 1982 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Springfield. He grew up in Jacksonville and Springfield. He graduated from Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, MO. He was employed at Fed-Ex for seventeen years and currently was owner and operator of Tom’s Lawn Care. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham. Thomas was a easy going, fun loving and hard working gentleman. He enjoyed fishing, mowing lawns and bowling. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Frances Schaefer of Chatham; children: Thomas A. Schaefer, Jr. of Springfield, Jennifer Schaefer of Fanwood, NJ, and Eric Schaefer and Heather Schaefer both at home; two grandchildren: Dana and Brittany; one sister, Judy (husband, Pete) Murrill of North Carolina and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins Cremation accorded by Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. The family welcomes friends to visit at a Memorial Gathering from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. A Memorial Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Clarence Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Clear Lake Twp. Sangamon County, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Charity of Donor’s Choice.
