Tillie L. Burnett

Tillie L. (Small) Burnett, 77, of Springfield, passed away at 9:08 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Regency Nursing Home. Tillie was born December 18, 1938 in Shelbyville, the daughter of Lester "Jim" and Helen Lupton Small. She married Phillip G. Burnett on April 19, 1958. Tillie was devoted to her family and was always considerate of others. She was a graduate of Shelbyville High School and worked for J.C. Penney's for 25 years before retiring. She also worked for Foster Grant for six years. She was a member of the Elks Ladies Club #158 and Red Hat Mommas. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one grandchild, Kyleigh Burnett. She is survived by her husband, Phillip G. Burnett of Springfield; four sons, Gene Burnett of Newburg, IN, Jeff (Ruthann) Burnett of Springfield, Dave Burnett of Frankfort, KY, and Drew (Jacqueline) Burnett of Springfield; one daughter, Debra (Frank) Carroll of Springfield; fourteen grandchildren, Ashleigh (John) Knudson, Andy Carroll, Ben Carroll, Jake (Sarah) Carroll, Angie (Jeff) Dant, Adam Codd, C. Alex (Sara) Burnett, Kelsey Burnett, Zach Burnett, Mackenzie Burnett, Rachel Burnett, Sarah McNelly, Seth Boner, and Ross Boner ; nine great-grandchildren, Bently Carroll, Gabby Carroll, Gia Carroll, Kyden Knudson, Kolie Knudson, Emmy McNeely, Addison Dant, Will Dant, and Ellie Dant; one brother A.W. "Wayne" (Judy) Small of Shelbyville; and four cousins, Nancy Floyd, Kate Grenewitz, Betty Perry, and Steve Dill. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Pastor Brooks Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
