

Frank “Tom” Thomas Edmonson Jr., 87, of Springfield, passed away on July 24, 2026 at Centennial Pointe Senior Living in Springfield. He was born on October 30, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Frank Thomas Edmonson Sr., and Della Elizabeth Crocker.
Mr. Edmonson is survived by his children: Tammy (Shane) Bumgarner of Buena Vista, CO., Johnny (Carrie) Edmonson of Riverton, Sherry Edmonson of Batavia, OH, Michelle Masten (Jason Day) of Camden, OH, Roy (Holly) Edmonson of Camp Dennison, OH, Frank Edmonson III of Cincinnati, OH. Grandchildren: Ashley (Kaleb) Kennedy, Jesse Bumgarner, Chance (Brianna) Mynatt, Bailey Jennings, Callie Edmonson, Jocelyn Bumgarner, Brad Dallas, Courtney Dallas, Brittany Vaughn, Stacey Edmonson Spaulding, and great-grandchildren: Kooper Kennedy, Kaysi Kennedy, Colton Mynatt, Steven Dallas, Oliver Clark, Hudson Clark, Brooklyn Vaughn. He is also survived by sister, Jean (Alan) Carroll, of Dayton, OH, and many nieces and nephews across the country and world.
Tom was a Master Sergeant/Retired, US Army, and served 21 years with time deployed in Germany, Panama, and three consecutive tours of Vietnam; and he was a Bronze Star recipient. Tom also worked for the State of Illinois, owned Subway Sandwich shops, and the State Journal-Register to finish out his working life. He was a member of the American Legion, and he enjoyed traveling, camping, cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Monday August 3, 2026 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road, with burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00am until the time of service Monday at Bisch West.
