

Tom Wilhelm, 56, of Springfield, died at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at his home. Tom was born February 26, 1957 in Peoria, the son of Charles T. and Colleen M. Armstrong Wilhelm. He married Catherine Ashenbrenner on June 21, 1986 in Springfield. Tom was an accomplished drummer and had enjoyed playing in several local bands, such as "City Slicker" and "Smack Dab". He was also an avid automobile enthusiast. His vast knowledge of music, performers and cars is a testament to the intensity he brought for all things and people that he loved. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Jeffrey Thomas Wilhelm and his best friend, Kali. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Wilhelm of Springfield; one daughter, Ashley Catherine of Springfield; parents, Charles and Colleen Wilhelm of Springfield; and one sister, Ann (husband, Bob) Ellis of Beacon, NY. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Rev. Brad Ferris officiating. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
