

Vera M. Fenski, 77, of Sherman passed away at 2:12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born September 9, 1933 the daughter of Arthur and Mabel Goddard Bear in Peoria. She married Joseph A. Fenski on July 26, 1952 at Rantoul Air Force Base in Urbana. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1997. Vera graduated from Peoria Central High School and worked for Standard Mutual Insurance until her retirement. She loved cross stitching, working crossword puzzles, watching birds, especially hummingbirds, and feeding peanuts to her chipmunks. She also enjoyed watching humorous T.V. shows and movies such as Family Guy and Sex in the City. Her biggest enjoyment was texting to and receiving texts from family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, James Fenski; and brother, Wilbur Bear. She is survived by her son, Daniel Fenski of Riverton; daughter, Debbie (Jim) Stevens of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Nicholas Fenski, Kyle Fenski, Joe Stevens, Tracy Silveri, Krista Coates, Janelle Fenski, Autumn Fenski and Jamie Stevens; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way, due in April; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Road, Springfield, IL 62702.
