She was born on January 14, 1942, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Claude M. and Lola M. (Runkles) Fisher.
Vera graduated from Feitshans High School in 1960. She went on to work as a line cook for Fritz’s Restaurant, aka The Wagon Wheel, for over 20 years. Vera enjoyed painting, knitting, crocheting, cross stitching, and reading, and loved horses and Native American heritage. She was known to be caring, loving, goofy, outspoken, and crafty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward and John Hall; sisters, Etelka Retherford, Clara Boggs, and Alice Richard; and son-in-law, Tony Galloway.
Vera is survived by her children, Michell (Marcellus) Fisher, Mary Kirk, and Charles (Kelly) Kirk, all of Springfield; grandchildren, Ashley (Kaleb) Smith, Asher (Max) Marshall, KJ Kirk, Hailey Galloway, Lakota Kirk, William Richardson, Richard Smith, Mercedez Maxwell, and Daniel Turnbow; sister, Delores “Jean” Edgeton of Forest City, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
