

Vern was born February 8, 1942, in Springfield, the son of Joseph J., Jr. and Dorothy Mae Burgeson Burger.
Vern was a graduate of Virden High School. He owned and operated Vern Burger Siding Company until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed racing, including NASCAR and going to Macon Speedway.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry and Bill Burger.
He is survived by his son, Joe Burger of New Berlin; two daughters, Tammy (Tom) Ginger of Sherman and Brenda Gregory of Springfield; six grandchildren, Dillon Gregory, Darcie McLean, Drew Burger, Chase Burger, Jacquelin Jones, and Matthew Grubb; three brothers, Joe Burger of Springfield, Jim (Laurie) Burger of New Berlin, and Chris (Tracy) Burger of Springfield; five sisters, Jan Kunz of New Berlin, Nancy Koehler of Loami, Sandi (Pat) Hennesy of Arizona, Gloria Whiteside of Arizona, and Kathy (Rick) Carruthers of Waverly; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Butler Funeral Home—New Berlin, 714 East Gibson Street, New Berlin. A funeral ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow at Berlin Cemetery.
