Veronica (Cory) DeRosa

Veronica was born January 11, 1925, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Sam and Mary (Shaughnessy) Cory.

Veronica attended North Round Prairie Grade School & graduated from Rochester High School in 1943. She married John DeRosa on August 24, 1946, at St. Patrick’s Church, in Springfield, IL., and they were happily married until John preceded her in death on June 5, 1975. Faith and family were a very important part of Veronica’s life. She was a member at the Church of the Little Flower and volunteered at St. Joseph’s Home. Veronica was a mother to six daughters and was a homemaker for most of her life. She was the family matriarch and a very humble person, patient, nurturing, and always gave unconditional love. Veronica enjoyed gardening, playing cards, cooking, baking, was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mary; brothers, Simon, Tom, and Bill Cory; sister, Mary Blush; son-in-law, Dan “Wade” Connolly; and grandchild, Cody Dunham.

Veronica is survived by her daughters, Bev Connolly, Rosie Camille, Janice (Greg) Holycross, Nancy (Mike) Rockford, Patti (Tim) Dunham, and Toni (Rob) Bentel; nine grandchildren, Dan (Sue) Connolly, Carrie (John Lisle) Connolly, Kristy (Ryan McKiness) Camille-McKiness, Joshua Lewison, Taylor Lewison, Haley (Jesse) Dutton, Mia and Grace Bentel, and Tara (Eric) Zobrist; six great-grandchildren, Michael Rechner, Anna, Seamus, and Ella Connolly Lisle, and Stella and Hannah Zobrist; and sister, Dorothy Daley.

Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial: The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 8:45 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Little Flower, 800 Adlai Stevenson Dr., Springfield, IL 62703, with Father Al Kemme, celebrant.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Springfield, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Little Flower or The Villas East of Sherman, IL.
